Purpose

To prevent and respond to bullying so that every student feels safe, respected and able to learn, in line with Independent School Standards, KCSIE and the Equality Act 2010.

Scope

All students, staff and visitors; bullying in person, online or off-site where it affects school life.

Definitions

Bullying is repeated, intentional behaviour that hurts another person physically or emotionally. It may be verbal, physical, relational, sexualised, discriminatory or online (cyberbullying). Child-on-child abuse is managed under safeguarding procedures where thresholds are met.

Responsibilities

Procedures

Prevention

High expectations, Personal Development, restorative practice, student voice and supervised social times reduce opportunities for bullying.

Reporting

Students can tell any trusted adult. Staff record concerns promptly. Anonymous reports are taken seriously where possible.

Response

We investigate fairly, support the target, address the behaviour of those responsible, involve parents and commissioners as appropriate, and use restorative approaches alongside clear sanctions. Discriminatory bullying is treated with heightened seriousness. Safeguarding referrals are made where needed.

Recording and review

Incidents are logged, patterns analysed and practice improved.

Monitoring

The Leadership Team monitors implementation through learning walks, safeguarding reviews, incident analysis, staff feedback, student voice and commissioner feedback. Findings inform training and school improvement planning.
