Purpose
To set out Evolution Education's curriculum intent, implementation and impact so that every student receives an ambitious, personalised education that meets Independent School Standards expectations for quality of education.
Scope
All students aged 11 to 16 on KS3 Respite and Recovery and KS4 Personalised Pathways programmes, including enrichment and personal development.
Definitions
- **Intent:** what we want students to know, do and become.
- **Implementation:** how the curriculum is taught and experienced.
- **Impact:** the difference the curriculum makes to progress and destinations.
Responsibilities
- The Deputy Centre Manager (Quality of Education, Safeguarding and SEND) leads
curriculum quality.
- Teachers plan, teach and assess within subject and pathway frameworks.
- Leaders quality assure through observation, work scrutiny and student voice.
Procedures
Intent
The curriculum re-engages learners, strengthens literacy and numeracy, supports wellbeing and regulation, builds character, and prepares students for reintegration, further education, employment or training.
Structure
- KS3: structured 6 to 12 week respite and recovery with academic recovery and
reintegration planning.
- KS4: Academic and Progression; Vocational and Employability; Sports Performance
and Leadership pathways, all including English, mathematics and personal
development.
Implementation
Teaching is teacher-led and technology-enhanced, adaptive, relationship-rich and delivered in small groups. Every student has an Individual Learning Plan.
Assessment and impact
Baseline and ongoing assessment inform teaching. Impact is evaluated through progress, attendance, engagement, qualifications and positive destinations.
SMSC, British Values and RSHE
Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, British Values and RSHE are embedded (see RSHE Policy and Personal Development curriculum).
Monitoring
The Leadership Team monitors implementation through learning walks, safeguarding reviews, incident analysis, staff feedback, student voice and commissioner feedback. Findings inform training and school improvement planning.

Legislation and guidance
This policy has regard to the Education (Independent School Standards)
Regulations 2014, Keeping Children Safe in Education (latest DfE edition), Working Together to Safeguard Children, the Equality Act 2010, the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR, and other DfE statutory and non-statutory guidance relevant to the subject of this policy. Where Independent School registration is completed, this policy will be reviewed against any updated registration conditions and DfE requirements.
