Purpose

To protect students and staff from online risks, promote responsible digital citizenship, and meet KCSIE, Prevent and Independent School Standards expectations for online safety, filtering and monitoring.

Scope

All use of school devices, networks, learning platforms and online activity arranged or supervised by Evolution Education, including remote or blended learning.

Procedures

Education

Online safety is taught through Personal Development, computing-related learning and pastoral work, covering social media, gaming, privacy, cyberbullying, radicalisation risks and safe, ethical use of AI.

Systems

School devices and networks use age-appropriate filtering and monitoring.

Bypassing controls is prohibited. Personal devices may be restricted under site rules.

Response to concerns

Concerns are recorded and managed under safeguarding procedures, with parents, commissioners and external agencies involved as required. Illegal content is reported to the appropriate authorities.

Staff conduct

Staff follow the Staff Code of Conduct for professional online communication and never use personal social media to contact students.

Monitoring

The Leadership Team monitors implementation through learning walks, safeguarding reviews, incident analysis, staff feedback, student voice and commissioner feedback. Findings inform training and school improvement planning.

This policy is reviewed at least annually, or sooner following changes in legislation, statutory guidance, or significant incidents. Next formal review:

Legislation and guidance

This policy has regard to the Education (Independent School Standards)

Regulations 2014, Keeping Children Safe in Education (latest DfE edition), Working Together to Safeguard Children, the Equality Act 2010, the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR, and other DfE statutory and non-statutory guidance relevant to the subject of this policy. Where Independent School registration is completed, this policy will be reviewed against any updated registration conditions and DfE requirements.
