Curriculum intent
Year 7 prioritises safe belonging, literacy and numeracy catch-up, emotional readiness and a calm return to learning. Many learners arrive after disrupted schooling. Teaching is personalised from baseline assessment within two weeks of entry.

Seven ISS areas of learning
Every year-group plan is designed so learners experience linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical, and aesthetic and creative education through the mix of core and enrichment above, adapted to ages and aptitudes.
Assessment and evaluation
Baseline literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and readiness. Formative checks each week. Half-term review against personal learning plan. Progress shared with family and referring school / LA as appropriate.

Adaptive teaching
Teaching follows the Adaptive Teaching Policy and individual support plans. Schemes of work for each subject set end points and weekly sequences. Pitch, scaffolds and challenge are matched to starting points, not a single year-group ceiling.

Intended destination for this year
Secure engagement and foundations for Year 8, or supported reintegration where the placement is short-term Respite and Recovery.
