Purpose

To ensure admissions are fair, transparent and child-centred, and that a place is offered only where Evolution Education can safely and effectively meet a young person's needs.

Scope

Referrals for young people aged 11 to 16. Self-referral via the public website is not offered. Places are arranged by schools and local authorities.

Actual capacity depends on staffing, risk, curriculum and safeguarding.

Procedures (summary)

  1. Referral form received and shared with all staff. Student Passport included where applicable.
  2. Rapid Response Panel consideration.
  3. School invited to bring student and parent or carer for centre induction.
  4. Centre induction: tour, Behaviour for Learning expectations, admissions confirmation, Home–Centre Agreement, starting timetable, medical needs and main school contact.
  5. Student information on Bromcom. Parent contacts saved on the centre phone.
  6. First day in Focus Learning: wellbeing and core subject assessment. Remain in Focus Learning for 3 to 5 days.
  7. Student Services and senior leadership agree the pathway. Individual Learning Plan opened or updated.
  8. Internal review at 2 weeks. Review with the main school at 6 weeks. Ongoing every 6 or 12 weeks.
  9. Ongoing support: teacher, Student Services, THRIVE and mentor feedback.
