The Beauty Pathway provides students aged 14–16 with a hands-on introduction to the beauty industry. Designed for learners who benefit from practical learning, this programme supports schools in offering a flexible, skills-based curriculum that engages students and prepares them for post-16 opportunities.

Course Overview:

This hands-on vocational course introduces learners to the core skills and knowledge required for entry into the beauty industry. This course is structured into units accredited through the AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS) — giving learners formal recognition for each successfully completed module.

  1. Introduction to Beauty Therapy
    Gain a foundational understanding of the beauty industry, exploring various treatments and career pathways.

  2. Nail Art & Manicure Techniques
    Learn professional nail care, design techniques, and manicure skills using industry-standard tools and products.

  3. Skincare & Basic Beauty Therapy
    Understand skin types and conditions, and learn basic skincare routines and facial techniques.

  4. Customer Care & Professionalism
    Build confidence in delivering high-quality customer service, with a focus on salon etiquette and communication.

  5. Health & Safety in a Salon Environment
    Learn essential health and safety procedures, including hygiene, risk assessment, and safe working practices.

Interim Enrichment Training Opportunities

To enhance practical skills and industry readiness, learners will also have the opportunity to take part in interim workshops in the following areas:

  • Hairdressing – Introductory cutting, styling, and finishing techniques.
  • Barbering – Basic clipper work and grooming techniques tailored for men’s hair.
  • Makeup – Foundational training in everyday and event makeup applications.

These enrichment sessions are designed to broaden learners’ exposure to wider career options within the beauty sector.
