Many young people arrive at Evolution Education after a difficult stretch of schooling. Our job is to make the next chapter feel possible: a calm day, adults who keep their word, ambitious learning, and a path forward.
Accountability sits with Evolution Education Limited. Day-to-day leadership is led by our Headteacher and Centre Manager, Lloyd, with Eugene Dwaah as Chief Executive Officer and Designated Safeguarding Lead. An Advisory Board, chaired by Ges Smith, provides independent educational challenge.
Places are commissioned by schools and local authorities. Families are partners. We do not invite public self-referral through our website.

Evolution Education is a sport-specialist school and alternative provision for young people aged 11 to 16. We combine classroom learning, vocational options, mentoring and high-quality sport so young people re-engage with education and prepare for life after school.
Evolution Education Limited (Company Number 14142140), part of Evolution Sports Group. Charity partner: Beyond Education Sports Foundation (Charity No. 1197957).
We are working towards Independent School registration. Full-time delivery currently sits under local authority commissioned partnership arrangements, including host registration against Jo Richardson Community School (URN 133561) where agreed, while Evolution Education remains the delivery organisation.
We deliver across London, with provision linked to Brent and Harrow, and Barking and Dagenham (including the 100% Sports and Education Centre at Future Youth Zone). The site for a placement is confirmed with the commissioner.

The day is structured so young people know what comes next: arrival, assembly, lessons, mentoring or personal development, sport, and a clear finish. Exact content varies by pathway. Pathway finish times can differ; Mon and Tue may run later for PE; Wednesday is often shorter; Thu and Fri often finish at 2:00pm. Key Adults confirm the day for each learner.

Our curriculum is broad, ambitious and personalised. Academic study, vocational options, personal development, sport and enrichment sit together so young people can re-engage and progress.
Respite and Recovery (typically 6 to 12 weeks): literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and reintegration, with sport and mentoring that rebuild confidence.
Personalised pathways across academic, vocational and sports routes. Qualifications may include GCSEs, Functional Skills, unit awards and vocational certificates such as BTEC Sport, depending on readiness and pathway.
Hair and beauty, music studio and mentoring, cooking, enterprise, sport and outdoor learning broaden horizons beyond the timetable grid.

Teaching is teacher-led, relationship-rich and adaptive. Technology supports practice through tools such as Microsoft 365, and online learning platforms where appropriate, including Purple Ruler and Academy21.

Adaptive teaching, modelling, scaffolding, retrieval practice and timely feedback.
Reading baselines, vocabulary, oracy and writing conventions in every subject.
Baseline to destination: personal plans updated from evidence, shared with families and commissioners as appropriate.
We assess baseline learning, academic progress, behaviour for learning, attendance and, where relevant, formal plan outcomes. Assessment drives teaching changes, mentoring focus and transition planning, not paperwork alone. Exams follow secure procedures, access arrangements and awarding-body rules.

Every learner has a Key Adult. Support is planned, reviewed and kept purposeful so interventions open doors back into successful learning rather than becoming a permanent separate track.
Phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary for gaps after disrupted schooling.
Focused sessions that secure skills needed to rejoin the main lesson.
Settling, attendance, friendships and everyday problem-solving.
Coaching for feelings, routines and relationships in a calm school day.
Physical activity and coaching as a route into attendance, confidence and teamwork.
Creative mentoring through Do The Mic Thing: expression and confidence alongside Key Adult support.
Reasonable adjustments planned early where learners sit external assessments.
Support back to school, college, training or another agreed pathway.
Where a young person needs specialist external support, we work with families and professionals through proper multi-agency channels. Our own therapeutic approach is woven through the day: greetings, routines, sport, lessons and restorative conversation.

Behaviour is taught, not only managed. We teach routines, high expectations, rewards for effort and kindness, and restorative practice when things go wrong. After conflict we repair harm, rebuild trust and plan better choices.
Every young person has the right to feel safe. Bullying means deliberate, repeated behaviour that seeks to harm, intimidate or control. It may be verbal, physical, relational or online. We distinguish bullying from ordinary peer conflict, respond swiftly, support everyone involved, and record concerns. Serious incidents follow safeguarding procedures. We prepare young people for education, training or work. Careers education, employer links and personal planning begin early. Where right for the learner, post-16 options include pathways such as Elite Coaching Academy’s football and education sixth form offer, alongside college, apprenticeships and other agreed routes.

How a place usually works:
Ages: 11 to 16. Fees are agreed per placement with the commissioner. During Independent School registration, full-time partnership arrangements may use host-school registration status as described on our Registration Status page.
