Girls Life Skills

A vocational personal development programme that helps young women build confidence, healthy relationships, safer choices and a clear sense of who they want to become.

Vocational Girls

Prepared for adult life, not just for a lesson

This programme sits on the Vocational Girls pathway alongside Hair and Beauty Enterprise. Two sessions each week over 12 weeks give time to explore identity, relationships, respect, peer pressure, help-seeking and future goals through calm discussion, scenarios and personal journals.

Beauty builds vocational skill. Girls Life Skills builds the personal development and preparation for adulthood that sit beside it.

12-week map

How the weeks are planned

Each week has an introduce session and an apply session.

Weeks 1 to 3

Appearance and identity, confidence, self-respect and boundaries.

Weeks 4 to 6

Family relationships, friendships, and healthy romantic relationships with help-seeking.

Weeks 7 to 9

Bullying, online respect, peer pressure and positive influence.

Weeks 10 to 12

Assertive choices, safety and support, careers, aspirations and goals.

Session rhythm

How sessions run

Sessions last about 45 to 60 minutes: a short check-in, teaching of key ideas, a practical activity, journal reflection and an exit ticket.

Sensitive topics are introduced through fictional scenarios. Young people are not required to share personal experiences. If something raises a concern about safety, staff follow safeguarding procedures and report to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
