Baseline assessment

On entry we assess literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and readiness to learn so the personal plan is grounded in evidence.

Academic progress

Formative checks and summative points show whether knowledge and skills are improving across the pathway.

Behaviour for learning

We track engagement, regulation and relationships so support can be adjusted early.

Attendance

Attendance and punctuality are monitored with families and commissioners because presence enables progress.

Formal plan outcomes

Where a young person has a formal education, health and care plan, agreed outcomes are reviewed with the local authority and partners.

Core English and Maths

Blended core teaching and assessment

Natasha delivers live core teaching on site. Purple Ruler provides virtual English and Maths. The personal plan sets which route, or mix, best supports engagement and progress. Evolution Education remains responsible for safeguarding, attendance culture and overall progress.

Online English and Maths pathways with placement assessment, topic checks and progress reports.

Staff choose, review and change the mix when engagement or progress shows another route will work better.

Evidence comes from the live teacher, from Purple Ruler, or from both, depending on which teaching method the learner is accessing.

How progress is evidenced

From baseline to destination

Starting point

Entry baselines in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and readiness to learn set a true picture, not assumptions.

Personal learning plan

Targets, support and pathway choices are written down and reviewed with the Key Adult at the centre.

Everyday evidence

Work, conversation, sport, mentoring notes and attendance build a live picture of engagement and skill.

Formal checks

Summative points, qualifications and, where relevant, formal plan reviews show whether outcomes are on track.

Shared updates

Families receive clear updates. Schools and local authorities receive progress information appropriate to the placement.

Next step

Destination planning uses the same evidence so college, training, school return or work feels realistic and planned.

How assessment informs action

Assessment is not a paperwork exercise. It drives teaching adaptations, mentoring focus, enrichment choices and transition planning.

King's Trust Achieve

Personal development assessment windows

Key Stage 4 learners on The King's Trust Achieve pathway submit evidence in three windows each year. Teachers assess the work, Curriculum Lead samples for consistency, and King's Trust verifies samples before certificates are claimed.

Year 10 windows

Autumn, spring and summer deadlines (2026 to 2027): wellbeing and work-readiness, teamwork and money habits, then community project and Year 10 portfolio for early certificate progress.

Year 11 windows

Autumn, spring and summer deadlines (2027 to 2028): community support and work experience, CV and transition planning, then full Units 1 to 8 claim with internal and external verification.

Approval process

Submission to the subject teacher, internal assessment, Curriculum Lead verification, King's Trust external verification, then certification. Resubmission is offered at the next window where needed.

Sports pathway

Sports Leaders assessment windows

On the sports pathway, leadership awards use three termly submission windows inside the whole-school assessment journey. Evidence is practical: plans, coaching, safeguarding, events and a completed portfolio.
