What this subject covers

Curriculum intent

Help young people understand how science and STEM ideas shape everyday life, health, food, the environment and work, through practical projects rather than traditional laboratory-only study.

Knowledge and skills

Core ideas in biology, chemistry and physics, scientific enquiry, and applying science to health, sport and everyday life.

Assessment

Practical tasks, observation, presentations, discussion, photographic evidence and AQA Unit Awards where appropriate.

Qualifications

Science study leading to recognised accreditation where appropriate to the learner's pathway. Exact routes are confirmed in each personal plan.

Progression routes

Informed choices for post-16 science, health, sport and technical pathways.

Personalisation

Planned around the young person

Every learner has a personal plan. Subject teaching is adapted to starting points, pathway goals and any extra support agreed with families and professionals.

Sport, mentoring and enrichment sit alongside subject study so young people can stay engaged and make progress that matters.
