Subject teachers and mentors teach key words explicitly so young people can understand and use academic language.

Discussion, presentation and structured talk build speaking confidence for school, interviews and adult life.
Reading culture
We promote reading for purpose and enjoyment, celebrating progress so literacy feels possible again.
Why this matters here
Many young people arrive after disrupted schooling. When reading improves, access to every other subject improves with it.
Literacy goals sit inside the personal plan and are shared with families and commissioning partners as appropriate.
